    Healthcare Travel: Five Things Your Recruiter Wants You to Know

    Do you sometimes feel like you aren’t a priority with your Recruiter?

    Do you find it hard to communicate your needs with your agency?

    Are you often disappointed when you don’t get the assignment and your recruiter doesn’t tell you why?

    Post-COVID Travel Healthcare is more competitive, less lucrative, and requires quicker response than ever before, but there are still ways to make your travel experience rewarding.

    Your recruiter wants you to know these secrets to successful travel:

    1. Be flexible in choosing destinations to travel. No longer can a traveler be very specific in their desires to travel to a certain area and expect to keep busy. Because there are fewer available assignments, the more likely you are to have opportunities and choices the more flexible you are. Discuss with your recruiter the areas you are interested in and ask about the availability of contracts and any trends he may see for the future.
    2. Determine the pay range that you are willing to accept and share with your recruiter. Investigate current payrates at your desired locations and be realistic. Your recruiter will want to get you the best payrate possible within the facility’s budget and does not want to waste your time proposing jobs that do not fit your criteria. Be honest with your minimum pay expectations. But also, invite the recruiter to give their feedback as to what you can expect.
    3. Complete the paperwork needed within 24 hours of job posting – or even better – before you are ready to travel. As you know, not only are jobs filling within hours of posting, but the facilities are also screening candidates more thoroughly than during the Pandemic. No longer will they consider an incomplete candidate profile or wait for references. At Convergence, like at many agencies, you are under no obligation to travel with us after completing your profile in anticipation of a desired assignment.  Instead, you will be moved to the head of the list!
    4. Communicate with a sense of urgency! If you don’t respond to your Recruiter or with Credentialing within the same day, someone else will. That someone may get the job you wanted.
    5. Give your recruiter the authority to submit according to the parameters outlined above. You have determined what you need to travel; let them submit immediately. You can always turn the assignment down. If the recruiter needs to wait for your permission, there is a greater than 80% chance that the opportunity will be filled by the time you have given consent.

     In conclusion, in this highly competitive market the successful travelers will demonstrate flexibility, timeliness and preparation. Know what you want and communicate it clearly and promptly.

    This extra work and foresight will get your submittal in the right hands at the right time.
