Q: Greg -With lower pay rates and fewer jobs, is it still worthwhile to be a medical travel professional?

Medical Travel to Compact States
QUESTION
Greg –
I am licensed in New Jersey, which along with Pennsylvania is now a compact state. Does this mean that I can automatically travel to a Compact State with my current license?
ANSWER
Yes it does! I’ll explain:
Typically, when a state goes compact, all currently registered professionals are grandfathered into compact status.
If you’re new to nursing, you may want to verify your compact status through Nursys.com
or inquire through your state Board of Nursing. If you do not have compact status, you need to apply for compact status through your state ( NJ) Board of Nursing.
Please note that some states new to the compact are equipped to allow professionals from other states to practice in their state but are not set up for their state nurses to work compact in different states. This is currently the situation in PA and should be resolved within a month or so.
Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, your state Board of Nursing website should have the answers that you need.
Thanks for your great question!
