Just Make a Difference
Debbie W. confesses that she was contemplating retirement when “her sweet recruiter, Terri” from Convergence called her with an assignment. This mother of five, and grandmother of five, and wife of 38 years may have earned a little R & R after working in healthcare for her entire adult life. But, alas, not quite yet.
Terri and Convergence have placed her at an Acute Long-Term Care Facility in Naples Florida. Being accustomed to working Acute Care, Debbie is enjoying this new learning opportunity:
“You get to know the patients much better (vs Acute Care). It has been a great experience; I try to make a difference every day.”
Debbie started her career as a CNA, where she worked with her mother. Years later, after becoming an RN, she proudly worked alongside her daughter, who is also an RN. Now she specializes as a Certified Medical Surgical Nurse and is enjoying Traveling. However, the relationships Debbie has made throughout her career are strong and long term. Currently, she is planning a trip to a reunion of fellow staff members at the small Wisconsin hospital where she started her career.
It is hard to imagine that a nurse of this caliber would not have some meaningful advice for new Travelers. Here is what Debbie has to offer:
Remember that you are there to assist the client facility. You cannot really change how they do things, only make suggestions. What you CAN DO is make a difference in your patients’ lives. Now, more than ever, this is important because patients are hospitalized without their families by their side. We are their new family and must be their advocates.
Debbie, we are confident that you have made a difference everywhere you have been and are privileged to be a part of that difference going forward!
