Living Life on a Grand Scale
Our featured Traveler for October, Cathy A., comes from the small farming community of Lockney located in the Panhandle of Texas and situated between Lubbock and Amarillo. At the moment the views out of her windows couldn’t be more different than those she grew up with. Cathy is currently on assignment in the Rocky Mountain town of Salida, CO.
Cathy has been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years and and a Travel Nurse for eight years and LOVES it! She says she thoroughly enjoys the freedom that traveling adds to her profession: “I get to decide where I want to work as well as how long I work in a particular location. Sometimes its 13 weeks and sometimes its 26 weeks”. She tells Convergence that taking three months at a time out of her busy life to grow professionally while having fun is a win/win for her. Well, we have found it is definitely a win/win for all involved. Her patient care delivery is spot on and we have the client evaluations that prove it – assignment after assignment!
Its amazing how the new people you meet while living in other areas of the country, even on a temporary basis, enrich your life. I’ve met some lifelong friends during my journey as a Travel Nurse.
Her advise to anyone considering entering into Travel Nursing is – “TRY IT! You will be hooked once you begin”. She is often approached by others about how to get into travel nursing and she really enjoys explaining the process and talking about how fun it is. Cathy has even “Traveled” in an RV and comments on how that added to the adventure. “No two assignments or locations are the same”.
What does Cathy like about being a Travel Nurse for Convergence? “I have worked with other agencies, but I have found that BEST recruiter at Convergence – Mo. He gets me where I want to go and he works really hard to take care of my needs during and in-between assignments”. But Mo is not the only best thing that happened to her as a Travel Nurse. “I met a great man on my very first assignment and we are still together”. 🙂
Our take on that? It’s great to love what you do and where you do it, but it’s even BETTER when you find WHO you love along the way. Life’s unexpected pleasures – they’re often far and few between. But just like Cathy, they are a rare and true pleasure!
