A New Traveler with Experience to Share
Are you an experienced Nurse who is thinking of entering Travel Nursing? Meet Debbie T., LPN, who after thirty years in Healthcare decided it was time to do just that! Debbie says she decided to answer an ad for a travel nursing opportunity on a “whim” by submitting her application online.
After speaking with the recruiter at length, she decided she really liked what she heard and thought: “why not give travel nursing a shot.” Her recruiter, Terri, and the team at Convergence Medical Staffing are really glad she did!
For now, Debbie says wants to gain more experience as a Traveler before venturing off too far from home: “Being relatively near to my family is a priority.” But she likes being a Travel Nurse because: “it’s introducing me to new professional experiences that are helping me to continue to grow.”
Debbie began in healthcare as a Certified Nurse Assistant and enjoyed that position for 16 years. It was when her husband became ill, that she decided to go to Nursing School. Although her husband later passed away, Debbie has never regretted the decision to become a nurse. “I’ve never been hungry or without a job”, Debbie states, and she has put her sons and her career first ever since. She now has 11 years of experience as an LPN and specializes in Skilled Nursing. Debbie is currently on assignment in Norfolk, VA.
“There have been a few challenges with my assignment, but my recruiter, Terri, and the Convergence staff have stood by my side and supported me while getting my issues resolved quickly. It’s nice to have that type of support mechanism when away from family. You can’t get that just anywhere!”
“Terri is a terrific listener and has earned my trust by doing what she says she will do when she says she will do it. To date, everything from Convergence and my recruiter has met my satisfaction 100%. How many travelers can say that?”
Debbie’s advice to other travelers? “If you can check a facility out before accepting an offer, never pass up that opportunity. Keep your eyes and mind open to ensure that you are making good choices. ”
Debbie adds one last comment: “Nurses – be kind to one another. We’re all in this together!”
Great advise for us all in these challenging times! Debbie – thank you for acting on that whim and becoming a Travel Nurse and for choosing Convergence. We are all better for it!
