An Integral Part of “the Family Business”
One could say that Akansha A., LPN was born into nursing. “Almost every woman in my family is a nurse – Mom, Sister, Aunts, and Cousins. It was meant to be!”
Akansha grew up in Tennessee, but she and her husband now call Georgia “home” – except for when they are traveling.
“I love being able to explore new ‘to us’ parts of the country with my husband! This is my first assignment (with Convergence) and I have loved it so far. Can’t wait to see where I will go next!”
Akansha may be a newbie with Convergence, but she is not new to travel or healthcare. She was a PCT for 19 years and has worked the past 7 years as a nurse. Having previously specialized in Hemodialysis, she is now in LTC at an assignment in New Hampshire and loves it.
My sister is a travel nurse; she loves the flexibility, meeting people, and seeing new places. I wanted the same adventure! However, after not having the best experience with other companies and recruiters, I was ready to give up. Somehow Terri, (my amazing recruiter from Convergence) got in contact with me and worked tirelessly to find me the perfect fit! Anytime I need help with anything, she’s there. I do not take her for granted!
Akansha continues: “I would recommend Convergence to any other nurse that wants to try travel nursing! Every single person I’ve had contact with from this company has been great to work with and so helpful.”
We asked Akansha what advice she would give other travel nurses. She emphatically replied: “Don’t give up! Sometimes it can be very frustrating not being able to find an assignment that works for you. Trust your recruiter and it will work out.”
Akansha shared a special memory with us regarding her nursing journey that supports her advice. She says, “So often nurses don’t give themselves enough credit – whether it is for how hard we work, how many different roles we play, or how much of an impact we make on our patients with the smallest things. A few weeks ago, I had one of those overwhelming shifts. I was running so behind! I walked into a patient’s room just to give her AM eye drops. She grabbed my hand, thanked me, and repeatedly told me that I was her angel. Those five minutes reminded me of two things: to give myself some grace, and that even the smallest things can mean so much to our patients. I was proud to be a little source of comfort for her.”
Akansha – you were truly born to be a caregiver! We at Convergence would like to thank you for choosing our agency family in continuing your healthcare dynasty. We are also believers that even the littlest source of comfort is meaningful to those who you care for and are honored to do that for you.
