Life Saving Retirement Party to Earthquakes
When Convergence Traveler – Shanna H., LPN – attended a co-worker’s retirement party, she didn’t expect to be also saving that co-worker’s life. After finding the nurse slumped in her chair and slurring her words, Shanna sprang into action.
While taking her “new patient’s” vitals, Shanna directed another nurse to find and administer an aspirin. Shanna called 911 while her “nurse patient” slowly and deliberately tried to give Shanna her husband’s name and telephone. With some creative listening skills, they were able to decipher the information and contact the husband to direct him to the hospital. Shanna later learned that her colleague had suffered a TIA and that she had caught the stroke just in time!
Shanna grew up in Georgia discovered in second grade that she wanted to be a nurse “so that I could help sick kids. As I got older, I became curious about how our body works. So, here I am!”
Shanna first specialized in Medically Fragile Pediatrics where she did care for some very sick children. After one especially heartbreaking case, Shanna decided to change specialties. She is now on assignment for Convergence in Vermont as a Long-Term Care, LPN.
Travel Nursing appealed to Shanna when she made a goal to visit all 50 states. Because she isn’t ready for retirement, she decided that working and traveling will give her the best of both worlds. So far, her assignment in Minnesota is her favorite because she loved spending the winter there and sampling the local ales. She lists her assignment in Hawaii as one that “kept me on my toes – and I lived through my first earthquake!” Having traveled three years now and visiting 17 states, Shanna feels confident that she will meet her goal.
Convergence will help Shanna do just that.
They listen to my interests and help me go where I want to go! If I have an issue, they are on it to help solve the problems; I have never been stuck without an answer. If you want a company who looks after you – Convergence is your company.
“Christie is my recruiter – she does an excellent job as MY recruiter. I would give her a 9, but only because no one is perfect! Ha, ha. She has always been there for me. I think I will keep her!”
Shanna’s advice for other travelers – “Take time for yourself. I had to learn to do that. Go where you want to go! Also, ask yourself – why are you traveling? I am traveling to see the world while helping others. This time can be used wisely if you choose it to be. Everywhere I have been has been interesting.”
Shanna – you are just the kind of nurse that we would like to care for us in our time of need – proactive, knowledgeable, curious, and caring. Thank you for looking out for our clients (and your co-workers!)
57.
